The University of Abertay Dundee



The University of Abertay Dundee came into being in 1994, having previously been the Dundee Institute of Technology since 1888. The university is located on a city centre campus in Dundee, Scotland.

Courses & Teaching

The university specialises in courses in computer games and computer security, with available programmes including world-leading courses in digital art, programming and game design, as well as Digital Forensics and Intelligence and Security Informatics. Courses are usually vocationally orientated.

Costs

Students from Scotland and the EU will pay tuition fees of £1,820 per year during the 2013/2014 academic year, while those from England, Northern Ireland and Wales are charged £7,000 annually. The fee for any degree, whether it is three or four years long, is £21,000 for students from the UK (who are not Scottish).

Student Life

Dundee has a diverse culture and entertainment scene, from the Dundee Repertory Theatre, which is the base for the Scottish Dance Theatre company, to Caird Hall, which regularly hosts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. There are also a number of clubs and bars in the area, and the Student Union organises regular events.

All halls of residence at the university are self-catered, and cost between £86.41-£106.65 per week depending on the room type, payment plan and length of stay.


Education

The university has around 1,000 networked computers across its campus, giving a ratio of one machine to every four students.

Sport

Abertay Health and Fitness Centre is open all year round and offers exclusive memberships to students, staff and alumni. Student fees at the gym are £30 per term or £50 for the full year.

Other


The University of Abertay Dundee was the first university in the world to offer degrees in Ethical Hacking and Computer Games Technology.
